Public Information
Dear Public Service Provider:
CANAC is a local service committee made up of (13) independent and fully self-supporting Narcotics Anonymous groups located around the Lake Cumberland area; in Wayne, McCreary, Clinton, Russell, Adair, Taylor, Casey, Pulaski, Rockcastle and Whitley counties. Our purpose in corresponding with you is to describe the nature of the services we offer and provide reliable contact information for those who may want our assistance.
Narcotics Anonymous is a 12 Step drug addiction recovery program based on total abstinence from all drugs, including alcohol. Our groups conduct regularly scheduled meetings that emphasize recovery through sponsorship and group support of a drug-free lifestyle. We do not charge anything for our services and we do not accept financial support or grants from anyone other than the voluntary donations of our own members. Membership in NA has always been free and our groups welcome Drug Court participants and other court ordered attendance.
All CANAC groups have unanimously agreed to validate court ordered participation pursuant to NA World Service Bulletin 31-N, by authorizing the meeting chairperson to possess and apply a uniform stamp to the Court validation cards at the end of the meeting, inserting only their initials and the date. The following information is enclosed for your reference:
a) Current CANAC meeting schedule.
b) WS Bulletin 31N.
We are also pleased to announce that the CANAC meeting schedule and other information relevant to CANAC activities in the Lake Cumberland area is now available on the internet at: www. nakentucky.com/Cumberland and that we have a toll free “Hotline” for those who need immediate assistance: 1-888-987-7700.
I am currently trusted with the responsibility of providing information about CANAC to members of the general public, such as yourself. If you have any questions or want additional information about Narcotics Anonymous, you may visit its international website: www.na.org, or address them to my attention at the letterhead address.
Sincerely, Steve G., CANAC Public Information Chairman
